For over thirty years, the Foundation has been dedicated to uplifting rural communities and enhancing their quality of life through various initiatives. Its key focus areas include Education, Health and nutrition, Skill Development, Rural BPO, Environment and Water, Sports, and Art and heritage. With a robust presence in the field, it actively operates in 22 rural locations across 11 Indian states, prioritising the communities situated around JSW's plants and port facilities. Its operations impact the lives of over 1 million individuals.

Education and Healthcare Initiatives

Education: JSW Steel has significantly impacted educational outcomes by reaching over 130,000 children in rural areas. The JSW Foundation has placed a strong emphasis on substantially enhancing the quality of education. This includes comprehensive improvements to physical facilities, boosting teacher capabilities, and fostering higher education access while addressing limiting factors. The Foundation has made strides in creating supportive learning environments for children with diverse educational needs. They provide schools with modern facilities, including computer systems and voice-assisted devices, enhancing learning environments and educational standards. Notably, the impact of these initiatives is substantial:

• More than 750 Anganwadis (rural childcare centres) have seen advancements in early childhood education.

• Annually, over 45,000 children benefit from various educational programs.

• The Foundation successfully operates eight Jindal Vidya Mandir Schools.

• Additionally, 15 model Anganwadis have been constructed, further enriching educational support.
  

Healthcare: The JSW Foundation is dedicated to enhancing health and nutrition services for women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups by establishing strategic collaborations with government bodies and international public health organisations. The organisation focuses on improving preventive and curative healthcare by upgrading public health facilities, establishing multi-speciality hospitals, organising outreach health camps, and providing supplementary nutrition at Anganwadi centres.

Healthcare Impact and Reach:

• Children's Health Initiatives: Programs reaching approximately 100,000 children.

• Support for Mothers and Adolescent Girls: Engaging over 10,000 mothers and adolescent girls with health and nutrition services.

• Hospital Infrastructure: Operating two multi-specialty hospitals across three locations with a total capacity of 300 beds.

• Child Growth Monitoring: Over 50,000 children are monitored for real-time growth to ensure healthy development.

• Nutritional Support: More than 150,000 children benefit from distributed mid-day meals, bolstering nutrition and health.

Environmental Sustainability

The JSW Foundation addresses the impacts of climate change by implementing innovative, technology-based solutions. These initiatives focus on maintaining clean villages, conserving water resources, promoting biodiversity, and ensuring sanitary living conditions and sustainable livelihoods. The Foundation achieves these goals through strategic partnerships, enhancing water management practices, and strengthening local community institutions.

Environmental Achievements:

• Reforestation Efforts: Over 2 million saplings planted, including 750,000 mangrove saplings across 160 hectares of degraded land.

• Water Conservation: More than 2 million cubic meters of water conserved, with an additional 50,000 cubic meters of storage capacity created through de-silting efforts.

• Sanitation Improvements: Construction of 7,600 individual toilets.

• Water Supply Enhancements: Approximately 7,100 households now benefit from an improved daily water supply, supporting healthier and more sustainable communities.

JSW Steel is deeply committed to environmental conservation, allocating significant resources to water conservation and afforestation. Their projects, such as watershed development programs, aim to replenish water sources and ensure long-term water security. 

Community Development and Women's Empowerment

JSW Steel actively supports economic independence in rural areas through vocational training and development programs. Over 16,000 farmers and 10,000 rural women have found new livelihood sources through Agriculture, Women SHG & Rural BPO initiatives. Additionally, the Foundation has constructed over 7,500 community toilets, improving sanitation and making rural villages open defecation-free.

Art, Culture, and Sports Promotion

The company's commitment extends to preserving cultural heritage, with projects like the restoration of the Chandramauleshwar Temple and Kenneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue. In sports, JSW Steel supports infrastructure development and provides backing to local athletes, fostering a vibrant sports culture across the communities.
