As the holy month of Ramadan unfolds, a unique partnership between a local Singaporean charity, Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is illuminating the path for humanitarian support in Gaza. This critical initiative aims to gather funds to aid the families and children suffering from the ongoing crisis in the region.

A Dire Situation

The situation in Gaza is grim. An estimated 1.7 million people, which constitutes more than half of Gaza's entire population, have been displaced. Shockingly, half of these are children, who now face acute shortages of safe areas and shelters. The repercussions of this crisis are severe, with significant casualties and tens of thousands of children sustaining injuries.

How You Can Help

From March 20 to 26, RLAF is making it incredibly easy for anyone to contribute to this noble cause. Donations can be made through multiple channels: PayNow, bank transfers to RLAF's OCBC account, cheques mailed to RLAF's address, participation in Giving.sg's online campaign, or physical donations at mosques across Singapore on March 22. No matter the size, every contribution can make a massive difference in providing relief to those in dire need.

The Plight for Basic Needs

The crisis has escalated to the point where access to food, clean water, and sanitation has become a luxury for children in Gaza. Reports indicate that households receive less than 1 litre of safe water per person each day. The scarcity of food and the outbreak of diseases like diarrhoea, which has affected over 152,000 individuals since mid-October 2023, highlight the situation's urgency. Over 90% of children aged six to 23 months are experiencing severe food poverty.

Your Impact

Donating to this cause directly supports UNICEF's efforts to provide humanitarian aid to victims and families in Gaza. While these donations are not tax-deductible due to regulations, the impact of your generosity transcends financial benefits—it offers hope and support to those who need it most.

This Ramadan, your contribution can be a ray of hope. Let's make a difference this Ramadan.
