Wu Bing, known as Monk Daolu, shifted from a successful business career to a life dedicated to aiding those in dire need. This shift led to the creation of the Protective Abode, a sanctuary for children and single mothers shunned by society.

A Sanctuary Called Home

Over the past 12 years, Wu has provided a roof and a warm, familial environment to over 600 children who were abandoned or could not be cared for by their mothers. Initially housed in his temple, these children now fill a small home in Zhejiang province, aptly named Protective Abode, following the demolition of the temple. Here, more than 50 children, from newborns to ten-year-olds, find love and care under the watchful eye of "Papa Wu".

Before his spiritual awakening in 2010, Wu was immersed in the business world, accumulating wealth yet growing increasingly disillusioned. The turning point came when a tourist visited his temple, sharing her painful decision to have an abortion due to societal and familial pressures. This encounter highlighted many women's desperate situations, prompting Wu to take action.

A Comprehensive Support System

Wu's initiative is comprehensive: from prenatal care to education, he ensures every child receives the necessary care. Unlike traditional orphanages, the Protective Abode offers a permanent home unless a mother can return for her child. The children are not up for adoption. His commitment extends beyond mere shelter; he is involved in every aspect of the children's lives, from school activities to bedtime stories.

Sustained by the Community

The survival of the Protective Abode relies on donations and the proceeds from Wu's Buddhist teachings, along with sales of vegetarian food and tea on social media platforms like Douyin, where Wu's cause has garnered a significant following.
